I do not think it does that (and if it did, wouldn't there be some check first whether the file which is about to patched is the correct version?). That would only make a difference if the 10.5.8 actually patched the installed kernel extension to a new version. So this is yet another reason (apart from the usual ones) not to buy & install Snow Leopard when it comes out. For now it is not a problem, but the chances are pretty slim that the 10.5.6 kernel extension will still work under Snow Leopard.

Well it appears they never fixed it, probably simply because they have no Extigy to reproduce the problem (and they have always the 'third party' excuse if a customer complains.). П˜Ÿ I had actually called Apple suppport when this problem came up in 10.5.7 and they said they had entered into some internal bug report database. The original drivers are not on the Creative site either – only updates. Dxtigy picture also demonstrates it it also shows that a distortion level grows proportionally to a signal level. You can find products similar to this one for sb extigy below. I hate everyone, so you don’t sb extigy to. Simply connect it to the outside of your PC or notebook and experience stunning digital audio fidelity with Sound Blaster Extigy’s 24bit/96kHz DACs at 100dB SNR clarity. That's why your hard drive can transfer data at millions of bits per second.Introducing Sound Blaster Extigy-the fully external Sound Blaster for your PC or notebook. I don't think it is being bothered by electromagnetic interference very much. So what can you do about that? Is anyone here actually in favor of using only wind up musical equipment like those old record players? The Live Drive headphone amp is very quiet. The Live Drive headphone amp may be affected by electromagnetic interference, but so is your CD player's line out. Winamp, which doesn't upsample, sounds tinny. Or you could use software upsampling from 44 to 48 like you get with PowerDVD 4.

So you'd have to listen to the audio from a DVD. To do so, you'd have to listen to it at 48Khz. I doubt very many people are qualified to give an assessment of the Live Drive headphone amp. I plan to eventually buy the Corda and a Headroom amp, and I'm hoping that they will live up to the Live Drive. To anyone who thinks the SB Live Drive headphone amp is bad, have you actually ever used it, or are you just going by what others who don't like Creative for whatever reason have said? I doubt very many people would complain about the headphone amp on the SB Live Drive. Sound Blaster claims to have fixed the resampling problem with the Audigy, so I imagine the Extigy will not have the resampling problem either. That's what the problem was with Sound Blaster. Sound Blaster Platinum did a very bad job resampling 44 to 48.
